BReg Blog ALERT: Data Protection & BCMS

Data Protection/ BCMS

A number of people have contacted the blog team with problems about misuse of their personal data in the Building Control Management System (BCMS), the new online electronic system for online lodgment of commencement notice information. This may be as a result of minor teething problems as the system is developed, but there are some concerns that others might be randomly listing the names of professionals as certifiers for their construction project. We advise anyone who has set up an account on BCMS to login and check the projects listed under their name. For BCMS website go here.

This is a link to advice from the Data Protection Commissioner: rights

The BCMS system is operated by LGMA Local Government Management Agency,

Local Government House, 35-39 Ushers Quay, Dublin 8

Phoenix House, 27 Conyngham Road, Dublin 8

You may need to seek legal advice and/or to make a formal complaint to An Garda Siochana if you think that someone had fraudulently signed statutory certificates in your name.
